Verses for Cards

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be.
A resting Place along the road,
To sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant
To learn some things,
But never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know,
For some the journey’s quicker
For some, the journeys slow.
But when the journey
finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one
I’d like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo, whispering softly down the ways.
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun.
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Little did we know that morning
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
you are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

God looked around his garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain,
He knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw that the road was getting rough and hills were hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered, “Peace be thine”.
It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

I am home in heaven dear ones, oh so happy and so bright.
There is perfect joy and beauty, in this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over, every restless yearning past.
I am now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last.
Dear ones, do not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still.
Try to look beyond earth’s shadow, pray to trust our Father’s will.
There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand.
When the work is all completed, He will gently call you home.
Oh, the rapture of that meeting!
Oh, the joy to see you come!

She always leaned to watch for us
Anxious if we were late,
In winter by the window,
In summer by the gate.
And though we mocked her tenderly,
Who had such foolish care,
The long way home would seem more safe,
Because she waited there.
Her thought were all so full of us,
She never could forget.
And so I think the where she is,
She must be watching yet.
Waiting till’ we come home to her,
Anxious if we are late.
Watching from Heaven’s window,
Leaning from Heaven’s gate.

We’ll always remember that special smile,
that caring heart, that warm embrace,
you always gave us.
You being there for Mom and us through good and bad times, no matter what.
We’ll always remember you Dad because,
they’re never be another one to replace you in our hearts,
and the love we will always have for you.

There is a special Angel in Heaven that is part of me.
It is not where I wanted him but where God wanted him to be.
He was there but just a moment like a night-time shooting star.
And though he is in Heaven he isn’t very far.
He touched the heart of many like only an Angel can do.
So I send this special message to the Heavens up above.
Please take care of my Angel and send him all my love.

You are not forgotten
Nor will you ever be
No one can fill you vacant place.
Looking back with memories upon the path you trod
We bless the time we had with you
And leave the rest to God.

God grant me the Serenity to
Accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

I am home in Heaven, dear ones.
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In the everlasting light.
Al the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand,
Do it now, while life remaineth…
You shall rest in God’s own land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting
Oh, the joy to see you come.

If Roses grow in Heaven Lord,
please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother’s arms
and tell her they’re from me.
Tell her that I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there is an ache within my heart
that will never go away.

We thought of you with love today.
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we’ll never part.
God has you in His Keeping.
We have you in our heart.

I have a place in Heaven
Please don’t sing sad songs for me,
Forget your grief and Fears,
For I am in a perfect place,
Away from pain and tears.
It’s far away from hunger
And hurt and want and pride,
I have a place in Heaven
With the Master at my side.
My life on earth was very good,
As earthly life can go,
But paradise is so much more
Than anyone can know.
My heart is filled with happiness
And sweet rejoicing too.
To walk with God is perfect peace,
A joy forever new.

We miss your smile, your joking ways.
We miss the things you used to say.
And when old times we do recall,
It’s when we miss you most of all.

The Lord is my shepherd, I’ll not want,
He makes me down to lie,
In pastures green he leadeth me,
The quiet waters by.
My soul he doth restore again,
And me to walk doth make.
Within the path of righteousness,
E’en for his own name’s sake.
Yea though I walk in death’s dark vale,
Yet will I fear none ill,
For Thou art with me
and Thy rod and staff me comfort still.
Goodness and mercy all my life,
Shall surely follow me,
And in God’s house for evermore,
My dwelling place shall be.

Please don’t be unhappy because I’m out of sight
Remember I am with you morning, noon and night.
The day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and said, “Many welcome home to you”.
And when it’s time for you to go from your body to be free,
think of where you are going, you are coming here to me.

We hold you close within our hearts,
And there you shall remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives,
Until we meet again.
So rest in peace dear loved one,
And thanks for all you’ve done,
We pray that God has given you,
The crown you’ve truly won.
And so I think the where she is,
She must be watching yet.
Waiting till’ we come home to her,
Anxious if we are late.
Watching from Heaven’s window,
Leaning from Heaven’s gate.

Perhaps they are not stars in the sky,
but rather openings,
where our loved ones shine down
to let us know they are happy

You’ve just walked on ahead of me
And I’ve got to understand
You must release the ones you love
And let go of their hand.
I try and cope the best I can
But I’m missing you so much
If I could only see you
And once more feel your touch.
Yes, you’ve just walked on ahead of me
Don’t worry I’ll be fine
But now and then I swear I feel
Your hand slip into mine.

Don’t think of her as gone away, her journey’s just begun,
Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting, from the sorrows and the tears,
In a place of warmth and comfort, where there are no days or years.
Think how she must be wishing, that we could know today,
How nothing but our sadness, can really pass away.
And think of her as living, in the hearts of those she touched.
For nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so much.

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along a beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flawed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
one belonging to him and one to the Lord.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it:
“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you’d walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that
during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why
when I needed you most you would leave me”.
The Lord replied:
“My son, My precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you”.

Gone are the days we used to share,
But in our hearts you are always there.
The gates of memory will never close,
We miss you more than anyone knows.
With tender love and deep regret,
We who love you will never forget.

Don’t remember me with sadness,
Don’t remember me with tears,
Remember all the laughter,
We’ve shared throughout the years.
Now I am contented
That my life it was worthwhile,
Knowing as I passed along the way
I made somebody smile.
When you are walking down the street
And you’ve got me on your mind,
I’m walking in your footsteps
Only half a step behind.
So please don’t be unhappy
Just because I’m out of sight,
Remember that I’m with you
Each morning, noon and night.

Now the labourer’s task is over,
now the battle day is past.
Now upon the farther shore
lands the voyager at last.
Father, in Thy gracious keeping,
leave us now thy servant sleeping.

Death leaves heartache
No one can heal,
Memories are treasures
No one can steal,
Some may forget you
Now that you are gone,
But we will remember
No matter how long.
You will always stay
loved and remembered,
In every way,
No tears, no verse,
Can ever say how much
we miss you every day.

Guardian Angel from
Heaven so bright,
Watching beside me to lead me aright,
Fold thy wings round me,
and guard me with love,
Softly sing songs to
me of heaven above.
Amen

Though happily each year had begun,
I had to die whilst very young.
It is so long since our last touch,
And I miss your presence there so much.
Of many things I needed to learn,
So to this place, God made me turn.
Yet with so many things to do,
I have taken this moment to speak to you.
The life that was, was not to be mine,
Yet within this world it has worked out fine.
Where I am now, I have found new friends,
In a place called Heaven, where the spirit ascends.
Straight to this world, few pass it by,
And no one here can really die.
Although this child, you cannot see,
I know you’d be so proud of me.
I look forward to when I’ll see you,
So until it’s your time to come,
Enjoy your life, and please don’t cry,
I just came to say a last goodbye

Do not stand at my grave
and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds
that blow.
I am the diamond’s glints
on snow,
I am the sunlight on
ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the
morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine
at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

God saw you getting tired,
And a cure was not to be;
So he put his arms around you,
And whispered, “Come to me”.
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away;
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

We Give Our Loved Ones
Back to God
We give our loved ones
back to God.
And just as He first gave
them to us
and did not lose them
in the giving,
so we have not lost them
in returning them
to Him …
for life is eternal,
love is immortal,
death is only a horizon …
and a horizon is nothing
but the limit
of our earthly sight.

Along the road to yesterday,
That leads me straight to you,
Are memories of happy days,
Together we once knew.
A silent grief that’s in our hearts,
No human eye can trace,
For many a broken heart is hid,
Behind a smiling face.
A light is from our household gone,
A voice we loved is still,
A place is vacant in our home,
That never can be filled.
May the God of love and mercy,
Care for our loved one who is gone,
And bless with consolation,
Those left to carry on.
Lonely is the home without you,
Life to us is not the same,
All the world would be like heaven,
If we could have you back again.

No Winter without a Spring,
And beyond death’s
dark horizon
Our hearts once more will
sing For those who leave us
for a while, have only
gone away
Out of restless,
careworn world,
Into a “Brighter Day”

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Your life was one of kindly deeds,
A helping hand for other’s needs,
Sincere and true in heart and mind,
Beautiful memories left behind.

What she suffered she told but few,
She did not deserve what she went through,
Tired and weary she made no fuss,
But tried so hard to stay with us.
Two tired eyes are sleeping,
Two willing hands are still;
The one who worked so hard for us,
Is resting at God’s Will.
Our lips cannot speak how we loved her,
Our hearts cannot tell what to say;
But God only knows how we miss her,
In our home that is lonely today.
She bade no one a last farewell,
She raised her hand to none;
Her spirit flew before she knew,
That she from us had gone.
Your life was love and labour,
Your love for your family true;
You did your best for all of us,
We will always remember you.

They say there is a reason,
They say that time will heal,
But neither time or reason,
Will change the way we feel.
For no one knows the heartache
That lies beyond our smiles,
No one knows how many times
We have broken down and cried.
We want to tell you something,
So there won’t be any doubt,
You’re so wonderful to think of,
But so hard to be without.
We cannot bring the old days back
When we were all together
The family chain is broken now
But memories live forever.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
– Why cry for a soul set ?
Miss me a little, but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared
– Miss me, but let me go.
For this is the journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan
– A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds
– Miss me, but let me go.

God called your name so softly,
That only you could hear
And no one heard the footsteps,
Of angels drawing near.
The golden gates stood open,
God saw you needed rest
His garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best

We sat beside your bedside,
Our hearts were crushed and sore,
We did our duty to the end,
‘Til we could do no more.
In tears we watched you sinking,
We watched you fade away,
And though our hearts were breaking,
We knew you could not stay.
You left behind some aching hearts,
That loved you most sincere.
We never shall and never will,
Forget you, our dear.

For many years the family chain,
Was closely linked together,
But, O, that chain is broken now,
The main link gone forever.
The sunshine of our happy home,
Must always clouded be;
But thou O Lord has sent this cross,
We bear it all for thee.

I’m writing this from Heaven
Where I dwell with God above
Where there’s no more
tears or sadness
There’s just eternal love.

When you are walking down the street
And you’ve got me on your mind
I’m walking in your footsteps
Only half a step behind.

And when you feel that gentle breeze
Or the wind upon your face
That’s me giving you a great big hug
Or just a soft embrace.

And when it’s time for you to go
From that body to be free
Remember you’re not going
You are coming here to me.

You can only have one mother
Patient, kind and true;
No other friend in all the world,
Will be the same to you.

When other friends forsake you,
To mother you will turn,
For all her loving kindness,
She asks nothing in return.

As we look upon her picture,
Sweet memories we recall,
Of a face so full of sunshine,
And a smile for one and all.

Sweet Jesus, take this message,
To our dear mother up above;
Tell her how we miss her,
And give her all our love.

You can only have one father
Patient, kind and true;
No other friend in all the world,
Will be the same to you.

When other friends forsake you,
To father you will turn,
For all his loving kindness,
he asks nothing in return.

As we look upon his picture,
Sweet memories we recall,
Of a face so full of sunshine,
And a smile for one and all.

Sweet Jesus, take this message,
To our dear father up above;
Tell him how we miss him,
And give him all our love.

We’ll always remember that special smile,
that caring heart, that warm embrace, you always gave us.
You being there for Dad
and us through good and bad times, no matter what.
We’ll always remember you Mom because,
they’re never be another one to replace you in our hearts,
and the love we will always have for you.

Don’t think of him as gone away,
his journey’s just begun,
Life holds so many facets,
this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting,
from the sorrows and the tears,
In a place of warmth and comfort,
where there are no days or years.
Think how he must be wishing,
that we could know today,
How nothing but our sadness,
can really pass away.
And think of him as living,
in the hearts of those he touched.
For nothing loved is ever lost,
and he was loved so much.
